Future Gems Dance Studio is looking for an Emerging Dance & Acrobatics Teacher to join our Heart Leader team in Term 4 2026, with potential ongoing opportunities in 2027.

This position has been created for a developing teacher who already has a solid foundation of teaching experience and is ready to take the next step in their growth.

We aren't looking for a junior assistant.

We're looking for an emerging educator - someone who already knows how to teach, genuinely loves working with children and is excited to be mentored, challenged and supported as they develop into an exceptional teacher.

The Role at a Glance

Location: Hornsby Studio - Storey Park, 12 Old Berowra Road

Days: Wednesday & Thursday afternoons

Paid Training & Co-Teaching: 21 October - 5 November 2026

Independent Cover Teaching: 11 November - 10 December 2026

Future Opportunities: Potential ongoing teaching and co-teaching opportunities in 2027

Cover hours will be approximately 4:00–7:00pm Wednesdays and 3:45–6:45pm Thursdays, teaching predominantly Acrobatics across a range of age groups, alongside junior Dance classes incorporating Jazz, Ballet and Hip Hop.

How the role will progress

Stage One: Paid Training & Co-Teaching

Before independently taking responsibility for classes, you'll work alongside an experienced Heart Leader across our Wednesday and Thursday program.

You'll get to know our students, Acrobatics curriculum and skill progressions, class structures, classroom management approach and teaching philosophy.

This won't be a passive observation period. You'll be actively involved from the beginning - leading warm-ups and activities, working with individual students, providing corrections, supporting stations, spotting skills appropriate to your competency and progressively taking responsibility for larger sections of class.

Stage Two: Independent Cover Teaching

From 11 November - 10 December, you'll step into independently leading allocated classes while one of our teachers is on university placement.

Depending on your experience and strengths, this may include a combination of Acrobatics and junior Dance classes including Jazz, Ballet and Hip Hop.

You'll have access to curriculum guidance, lesson information and ongoing support from the Future Gems team while taking genuine ownership of your classes.

As this period falls during our End of Year Concert preparation,



some classes will also involve routine cleaning, polishing and performance preparation.

Stage Three: Potential 2027 Opportunities For the right person, there is potential to continue as part of our 2027 teaching team.

This may include ongoing Wednesday and Thursday co-teaching within our Acrobatics and Dance programs, alongside opportunities to independently lead additional classes suited to your strengths and experience.

Any 2027 position will be discussed separately based on performance, studio needs, availability and mutual fit.

What you will do:

As one of our Heart Leaders, you'll:

- Deliver fun, engaging and purposeful Dance and Acrobatics classes that students genuinely look forward to attending
- Teach safe Acrobatics foundations, conditioning, flexibility, technique and progressions
- Safely spot and physically support Acrobatics skills appropriate to your training and competency
- Follow Future Gems curriculum guidelines while bringing your own personality, creativity and teaching strengths into the classroom
- Adapt activities for different ages, abilities, personalities and learning needs
- Provide individual corrections and feedback in a positive, age-appropriate way
- Manage classroom behaviour positively, calmly and confidently
- Actively participate when co-teaching rather than waiting for direction
- Seek, receive and implement feedback from experienced teachers and studio leadership
- Support students through concert preparation, including choreography, routine cleaning and performance preparation where required
- Communicate professionally and warmly with students, families and fellow team members

Most importantly, you'll help create a classroom where children feel known, valued and encouraged to celebrate effort, bravery and progress - not simply successful outcomes.

The Essentials

We're looking for someone with:

- Approximately 2+ years' experience teaching Dance and/or Acrobatics
- Experience independently teaching children in a class workplace
- Acrobatics teaching experience and an understanding of safe skill progressions
- Appropriate experience safely spotting Acrobatics skills
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- A genuine passion for teaching and child development
- A positive, proactive and growth-minded approach
- Availability on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons
- Availability for the November-December 2026 cover period and associated training
- Reliable transport to our Upper North Shore locations
- A current NSW Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one
- Current First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it

Formal Acrobatics and/or Dance qualifications are highly regarded.

Payment:

This position is casual employment, with remuneration determined in accordance with the Fitness Industry Award and based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience. Superannuation will be paid in accordance with legislative requirements. All required training and co-teaching hours prior to the independent cover period will be paid.

Pay: From $41.00 per hour

Expected hours: 3.75 – 6.0 per week
