In your role, you will be part of a dynamic perioperative nursing team delivering high-quality patient care across surgical, endoscopy, preadmission, anaesthetic, recovery and sterilisation services. About us:

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers an area of 142,900 square kilometres. We go as far as Tully in the south, Cow Bay in the north and Croydon in the west.

Innisfail Hospital services include emergency department, general medical and surgical, low risk maternity (3 beds), chemotherapy (4 chairs), and renal dialysis (8 chairs). Innisfail Hospital has 49 inpatient beds and 7 emergency department treatment spaces. Beds include three high dependency unit beds and ten same day beds/bed alternatives.

The hospital serves a population of over 8000 people and is 1.5 hours' drive from Cairns. The Innisfail region is renowned for spectacular waterfalls, fishing, Mission Beach, the Family Islands, and World Heritage rainforest.

About your role

The Perioperative Unit delivers a broad range of surgical and endoscopy services across multiple specialties,



supported by a seven-day Sterilisation Department and Pre-Admission Clinic. Our nursing team plays a vital role across the full patient journey, including scrub, scout, anaesthetics, recovery, endoscopy, clinic and sterilisation services.

Your main tasks may include (but are not limited to):

- Assisting with preadmission clinic and anaesthetic assessments.
- Theatre and instrument preparation.
- Instrument sterilisation.
- Theatre admissions.
