MCJ Appointments is seeking an experienced Environmental Health Officer to join a busy Local Government team in Western Sydney on a temporary full-time assignment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Environmental Health professional who enjoys working across public health, environmental compliance, inspections and community education.

About the Role Working within the Environmental Health team, you will help deliver Council's environmental health programs and ensure regulatory requirements are met across the local community.

Your responsibilities will include

- Conducting inspections of food premises and food vehicles
- Inspecting skin penetration premises, cooling towers and commercial swimming pools
- Inspecting on-site sewage management systems
- Investigating environmental health and public health incidents
- Responding to noise, air, water and land pollution matters
- Undertaking environmental health assessments relating to Development Applications
- Assisting with sedimentation and erosion control matters
- Responding to customer requests and environmental health enquiries
- Providing accurate advice to businesses, residents and other authorities
- Preparing correspondence, reports and educational material
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Supporting environmental health education and community initiatives
- Working collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders

About You To be successful, you will have:
- Degree-level qualifications in Environmental Health or a related field – essential




- Current NSW Class C Driver's Licence – essential
- Sound knowledge of current environmental health issues
- Strong inspection, investigation and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
- Availability to work flexible hours when required

Previous Local Government experience and experience developing environmental health strategies, policies or programs will be highly regarded. Why Apply?
