We are seeking an inspirational and highly committed Deputy Principal (Special Education) to provide strategic and instructional leadership across our school community, with a robust focus on inclusive education, student wellbeing and high-quality learning outcomes for students with disability. Working collaboratively with the Principal, staff, families and community partners, the successful applicant will lead the development and implementation of innovative, evidence-informed practices, build staff capability, foster a positive and inclusive school culture, and effectively manage people, resources and programs to support student success. This is a temporary full-time position commencing 21 January 2027 until 25 March 2027, unless otherwise determined.

This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.

About Us

Deebing Heights State School opened in 2016 and is based on Rawlings Road, in the suburb of Deebing Heights. It is a co-educational State school that caters to Prep to Year 6 students. The school vision is Excellence in Teaching, Excellence in Learning and Excellence in Partnerships.

We teach the Australian Curriculum, including English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Health and Physical Education, Technologies, The Arts, Languages (Japanese). There is a particular emphasis on mastering the basics of literacy and numeracy.

About The Role The Deputy Principal provides strategic leadership of the school's Inclusion and Student Support Services and year 2/3. The role leads a multidisciplinary team including the Head of Department Student Services, Head of Department Student Engagement, Guidance Officer,



Inclusion Coaches and Specialist Therapy Services, while also providing line management and instructional leadership for the Year 2 and Year 3 teaching teams. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and collaborative educational leader to drive inclusive practices, build staff capability, strengthen student support systems, and improve outcomes for all learners, particularly students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities Include, But Not Limited To

- Provide strategic leadership to develop and implement a shared educational vision that promotes high-quality learning outcomes and inclusive practices for all students.
- Lead with integrity and accountability, modelling values-based, ethical leadership, upholding high standards of student and staff performance, and deputising for the Principal when required.
- Build strong partnerships with parents, government agencies, community organisations, industry and other stakeholders to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.
- Drive continuous improvement and future-focused practice through strategic planning, lifelong learning, career development, and the use of evidence-informed approaches.
- Manage resources and ensure compliance by effectively overseeing human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources, while maintaining a strong understanding of legislation, policies and requirements relating to students with disability.
