The Role Stepping into a high-quality, diverse caseload, you will manage files autonomously while enjoying the mentorship of seasoned Accredited Specialists. This role is ideally suited to a practitioner who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable steering complex matters through the court system.
Your day-to-day will involve:
- Managing complex, litigated property settlements involving intricate corporate structures and high-net-worth separation matters.
- Advising on high-conflict parenting disputes, relocation, and recovery applications.
- Preparing robust, high-calibre court documentation, including initiating applications, financial statements, and affidavits.
- Providing confident,
high-level courtroom advocacy and representing clients regularly in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA).
- Balancing strong litigation strategies with strategic alternative dispute resolution and mediation frameworks when appropriate.
About You We are looking for a sharp, confident, and resilient practitioner who pairs exceptional technical legal skills with strong courtroom presence.
To be successful, you will have:
- Admitted to practice in an Australian jurisdiction with a current Victorian Practising Certificate.
- 7+ years PAE specialising exclusively (or predominantly) in Family Law.
- Proven, hands-on experience managing litigated family law matters from inception to final hearing.
- Strong standalone advocacy skills and total comfort representing clients in the FCFCOA.
- High-level strategic thinking, a pragmatic resolution-focused mindset, and the emotional intelligence to guide vulnerable clients through stressful litigation.
- An interest in or progression toward Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) Accredited Specialisation is highly regarded.
