The Finance Business Manager, Research & Trust provides high-quality business partnering to the Research and Trust divisions at CHQ. The role supports sustainable research operations by leading financial performance reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight of research activities, while providing financial advice to senior stakeholders.

About the Team

Financial Performance services at CHQ provide financial planning, performance reporting, cost analysis, and decision support to hospital leadership and clinical leads. The team delivers insights into budgets, activity, and resource utilisation, enabling informed decisions that support sustainable healthcare delivery and improved patient outcomes.

About the Role In this role you will coach and support others to deliver for children, young people and families (Leader of Others) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:

- Lead and coordinate CHQ Finance's support in providing high quality financial management and accounting advice to the managers of CHQ's Research and Trust accounts.
- Deliver timely and accurate financial and FTE performance insights to leaders including Director of Research, Divisional Director Medicine and Senior Manager Research, and divisional cost centre managers to support informed decision making and improved financial outcomes.
- Lead the design and implementation of a standardised approach to the financial management for research project across the research project's lifecycle, including but not limited to pre-sponsor submission, establishment, delivery and project closure.




- Lead and coordinate Finance staff to support the review and improvement of financial processes and controls associated with Research projects, with a focus on the Division of Medicine.
- Maintain oversight of clinical trial agreements, contracts funding arrangements, including cost recovery, funding allocations and reimbursements for clinical trials teams, clinical services and supporting departments, ensuring appropriate accounting treatment and compliance with financial governance requirements.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships while mentoring finance staff and fostering a culture of high performance, ethical practice, workplace safety and continuous improvement.
- Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resources management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, work, health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
- Undertake additional duties consistent with the role and classification level as directed by the Director, Financial Performance.
