Armidale Regional Council is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to play a key role in driving financial excellence, compliance and strategic decision-making across the organisation.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer this role offers the opportunity to influence financial sustainability, partner with leaders across Council, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in a high performing culture that values collaboration and teamwork to achieve aligned outcomes.

About the Role

You will

- Lead and support the preparation of annual financial statements and statutory reporting.
- Oversee key compliance obligations including BAS, FBT, payroll tax and grant acquittals.
- Support long-term financial planning, budgeting and organisational performance reporting.
- Assist with development and reporting of the LTFP business improvement strategy, including status of organisation financial sustainability KPIs.
- Manage and report on Councils cash and investments
- Manage and upkeep of Councils Long-Term Financial Plan
- Support and promote the effective integration of the Asset Management strategy with the Long-Term Financial Plan and Strategic Community Plan
- Undertaking other reasonable duties that are within the limits of the incumbent’s skills, competence and training.

About You You are a proactive finance professional with:

- Degree level qualification in Financial Accounting or similar related field.
- Minimum 5 years work experience in an accounting or similar role
- CA ANZ or CPA qualified (or working toward completion).
- Demonstrated experience in financial accounting, statutory reporting and compliance.
- Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and public sector/local government reporting requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading,



mentoring or supervising finance staff.
