The Boat Yard Foreperson is responsible for the safe, efficient and organised day-to-day operation of the boat yard, ensuring vessels, equipment, facilities and personnel are managed to a high standard. The role provides hands-on supervision of yard activities, coordinates trades and contractors, oversees vessel movements and maintenance activities, manages controlled gate access, and ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with company standards.

Key responsibilities

- Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the boat yard.
- Allocate tasks and resources to yard personnel and contractors.
- Maintain an organised, clean and efficient yard workplace.
- Coordinate vessel movements, storage, launching, hauling and positioning as required.
- Ensure vessels are correctly supported, secured and positioned within the yard.
- Monitor yard equipment, tools, machinery and facilities and report maintenance requirements.
- Assist with planning and coordinating boat repairs, refits, maintenance and general yard works.




- Control and manage access to the boat yard gate and site in accordance with company procedures.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to yard staff.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the yard.

About you

- Demonstrated experience in a supervisory, foreperson or senior hands‑on role.
- Experience working in a boat yard, marine, shipyard, construction, engineering, maintenance or similar operational environment.
- Strong practical and mechanical aptitude.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and coordinate people and contractors.
- Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding yard activities when required.
