The Role:
Location: Sydney NSW
Duration: 12-month Traineeship
As a Technology Trainee, you will contribute to the effective operation of Smartgroup’s technology environment by providing first-level support, setting up and maintaining equipment, assisting users with technology-related issues and developing industry-relevant IT skills through structured on-the-job learning.
Under the guidance of experienced mentors, your responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and configuring laptops, monitors, mobile phones and other IT equipment.
- Helping remote users resolve basic technology issues.
- Logging, updating and following up incidents and service requests.
- Assisting with password, user account and access issues.
- Providing basic support for printers, scanners and printing issues.
- Supporting meeting room technology, including screens, cameras, microphones and video meetings.
- Assisting with technology setup for new employees.
- Maintaining accurate asset and equipment records.
- Creating and updating help guides and support documentation.
- Keeping users informed about the progress of their support requests.
- Asking for assistance and escalate complex issues to experienced team members or vendors.
- Following company security, privacy and safety requirements.
About You:
To be successful in this traineeship, you’ll need:
- A willingness to learn, ask questions and accept guidance and feedback
- A genuine interest in technology and a desire to begin or develop a career in IT
- Ability to build rapport with a diverse range of people
- Solid attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Excellent time management, organisational and prioritising skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving skills
Eligibility Criteria:
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
- Strong computer knowledge including Microsoft Office Suite
- IT qualification, certificate, traineeship or related study (desirable but not essential)
- Basic familiarity with user accounts, passwords and access permissions (desirable but not essential)
- Experience using a service desk or ticketing system to log, update and follow up support requests (desirable but not essential)
