About the role

Optimized Ortho Pty Ltd, part of the Corin Group of Companies, is seeking a motivated and positive Fitter & Machinist Apprentice to join the Machine Workshop based in Pymble, Sydney. In this role you will complete your formal trade qualification (Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade) while learning the requirements of the medical device industry. The Machine workshop performs repairs, reworks and refurbishment of surgical instruments used in Total Hip & Knee replacement surgery.

Key responsibilities

- Precision machining, learning to set up and operate conventional vertical mill, centre lathe, grinder etc.
- Perform service and repair of surgical instruments, as directed
- Adhere to relevant quality procedures and record keeping requirements in accordance with the company's quality management system
- Assist with routine maintenance and calibration of workshop tools, adhering strictly to ISO 13485 and Valuable Manufacturing Practices
- Perform good inwards receipt process for instruments and raw materials
- Quality inspections using measuring tools (micrometers, callipers) to inspect finished parts against drawings




- Creation of work orders and lot records
- Assist with production related tasks as required

- Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
