About the role

This position based in Narrabri, NSW involves providing compassionate care and support to bereaved families and clients, managing all aspects of funeral arrangements and coordination, and ensuring the respectful care and dignified handling of deceased persons. The role encompasses client and family care, care of the deceased, funeral coordination and administration, day-of-service duties, after-service duties, and general business and operational responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

- Provide transparent, respectful and compassionate information to bereaved families and other clients
- Welcome clients and visitors in a dignified and professional manner
- Arrange removals from private homes, hospitals, aged care facilities and other locations
- Meet with families to discuss funeral options, including burial or cremation, service style, coffin or casket selection, flowers, music, order of service booklets, notices and associated costs
- Provide practical guidance about funeral arrangements, paperwork and any benefits or supports survivors may be eligible for
- Support families and friends before, during and after funeral arrangements and ceremonies
- Assist with the respectful identification, removal, transport,



preparation and care of deceased persons
- Prepare deceased persons for viewing, burial or cremation
- Drive company vehicles, including the mortuary van and hearse
- Liaise with celebrants, clergy, councils, cemeteries, crematoria, florists, caterers, suppliers, pallbearers, staff and other stakeholders

About you

- Maintain a high standard of care, dignity, hygiene, safety and discretion at all times
- Maintain a high standard of personal presentation, communication and conduct
- Be reliable, honest, flexible during busy periods, and willing to use initiative
- Treat colleagues, clients, families and the community with kindness, discretion and respect
- You hold a current unrestricted driver’s licence and are able to drive company vehicles, including the mortuary van and hearse.
- Able to assist with carrying, lowering and other service duties where appropriate and safe
- You are willing to obtain a National Police Check and undergo any additional background or security checks required to undertake Government contract work.
