Role Description The Geotechnical Tester is a full-time, on-site position based in the Greater Brisbane Area. In this role, you will perform field and laboratory testing of soil and related materials, including sampling, classification, and strength and compaction testing in accordance with relevant standards. You will document test procedures and results, prepare clear reports for project managers and engineers, and help interpret findings to support design and construction decisions.

Daily responsibilities include maintaining testing equipment, ensuring quality control and safety compliance, coordinating site visits, and communicating effectively with other technical staff.



You will work closely with surveyors, soil testers, and consulting engineers to provide reliable geotechnical data for residential, subdivision, and infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

- Experience in geotechnical or soil testing, including field sampling and laboratory analysis, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Understanding of relevant standards and procedures (e.g., AS/NZS, ASTM or similar) and ability to follow structured testing protocols safely.
- Proficiency in basic technical reporting, recordkeeping, and use of spreadsheets or lab information systems to document test results.
- Capability to operate and maintain geotechnical testing equipment and tools, and willingness to work in varied outdoor site conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to interpret technical information, and collaborate effectively with engineers, surveyors, and project managers.
- Good communication skills and professional conduct, with a focus on teamwork, reliability, and meeting project timelines.
- Relevant qualification in geotechnical engineering, civil engineering, materials testing, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to sites within the Greater Brisbane Area; prior experience in residential or subdivision work is beneficial.
