Terra Rosa Consulting has been working closely with Traditional Owners for the last 16 years in Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland, and most recently, South Australia. Our multidisciplinary team specialise in Archaeology and Anthropology services, environmental management, mapping and GIS, and support for Prescribed Body Corporates (PCBs) and Traditional Owner corporations.

About the Role

We're seeking a highly motivated, technically capable GIS Consultant to join our team.

This role will play a key part in supporting the delivery of spatial services across a diverse range of heritage, environmental, land access, and community projects. You will be responsible for spatial data management, analysis, mapping, reporting, and the ongoing development of GIS systems and workflows.

Beyond day-to-day GIS delivery, we are looking for someone who can help us continuously improve our spatial capability through innovation, automation, and emerging technologies. This role would suit an experienced GIS professional who enjoys solving complex spatial challenges, improving processes, and helping to improve the overall quality and capability of GIS services within the business.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and manage GIS databases, spatial datasets, mapping products, and associated spatial systems.

- Perform spatial analysis and prepare high-quality maps, dashboards, reports, visualisations, and supporting project documentation to inform project delivery and decision-making.

- Administer and support ESRI platforms, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Survey123, Field Maps, and related applications.

- Process, manage, integrate, and maintain field-collected spatial data from a variety of sources, ensuring data integrity through quality assurance processes, version control, and best-practice data management.

- Develop and improve GIS workflows, tools, standards,



and methodologies to enhance data quality, operational efficiency, and service delivery across the organisation.

- Support the development of digital mapping solutions, web GIS applications, spatial reporting tools, and decision-support systems.

- Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to provide GIS support across heritage, environmental, land access, and community projects.

- Provide technical GIS advice, mentoring, and support to staff and project teams, contributing to the ongoing development of internal GIS capability and best-practice approaches.

- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Traditional Owners, Prescribed Body Corporates (PBCs), clients, proponents, regulatory authorities, government agencies, and other stakeholders.

- Communicate complex spatial information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the quality, capability, and value of GIS services across the business.

You are comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams. You enjoy exploring new technologies and approaches and are always looking for ways to improve how spatial information is collected, managed, analysed, and communicated.

Essential Requirements:





- Relevant tertiary qualification in GIS, Spatial Science, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

- Prior experience in a GIS-related role.

- Strong experience working within the ESRI ecosystem, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.

- Demonstrated experience managing spatial databases, datasets, and GIS workflows.

- Advanced spatial analysis and map production skills.

- Proven ability to maintain accurate and well-managed datasets.

- Experience developing and supporting field data collection solutions such as Survey123 and Field Maps.

- Robust analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Ability to communicate technical information to a variety of audiences.

- Respect for Aboriginal cultural protocols and experience engaging with communities.

Desirable Requirements:

- Experience developing GIS applications, dashboards, web maps, or spatial portals.

- Experience integrating GIS with emerging technologies, AI-assisted workflows, machine learning, or advanced spatial analytics.

- Experience working with Aboriginal organisations, Traditional Owner groups, heritage projects, or environmental management programs.
