Our client is a well-established shipbuilding company located on the northern coast of Northern New South Wales, working on ships, ferries, barges, boats, yachts & pontoons.

METAL FABRICATOR n

Full time position

n

Location: Harwood NSW 2465

n

As a Metal Fabricator you will undertake fabrication, construction & maintenance of ships & other marine constructions, working on both new builds & existing vessels.

Key Responsibilities JOB TASKS n

n
- Read & interpret engineering drawings, job specifications, weld symbols & work packs
n
- Identification & selection of specified materials, appropriate preparation of materials for use & storage of stock materials by type & thickness
n
- Cutting of materials using oxy-fuel cutting, plasma cutting & h& tools. Experience in CNC profile cutting desirable.
n
- Use pan brake & press brake folders,



pipe benders & h& forming tools
n
- Prepare, cut, align, tack, weld, inspect & finish components to required tolerances & quality standards.
n
- Use welding processes including MMAW/SMAW, GMAW/MIG, FCAW & GTAW/TIG, subject to qualifications & approved procedures.
n
- Perform mechanical joining techniques including riveting, screwing & bolting.
n
- Self-assess compliance of welds with applicable standards including weld size
n
- Applying appropriate finishes to jobs such as wire brushing, pickling, polishing or sanding
n
- Attention to finished weld quality including removing stop/starts & grinding smooth where required
n
- shape & bend metal sections & pipes using both h& & machine tools by heating & hammering
n
- Fabrication & installation of pipe spooling, chutes, hoppers, tanks, walkways & gangways
n
- Operate equipment safely & according to OH&S; requirements
n

Skill & Experience YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE nn
- At least two years full time relevant work experience in vessel construction & repair
n
- Experience working on both aluminum & steel vessels
n
- Able to work in a team & meet deadlines
n
- Punctual & reliable
n
- Experience working at heights
n
- Holder of Confined Spaces certificate
n
- Ability to work under limited supervision when required
n
