We are seeking an experienced and hands on Mechanical trade qualified Service Technician / Mechanical fitter to join our Melbourne-based business in a permanent full-time position.

This is an excellent chance for an experienced technician who enjoys working independently, diagnosing problems, maintaining and repairing high-quality European machinery and equipment.

The position is predominantly mechanical; however, a good working knowledge of electrical systems and electrical fault-finding is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will work directly with our customers, local Melbourne team, Italian manufacturer and technical support teams.

Key Responsibilities

Service, maintain and repair European machinery and equipment

Diagnose mechanical and basic electrical faults

Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing

Install and commission new equipment

Diagnose motors, sensors, switches, relays, contactors and associated components

Read mechanical drawings and electrical wiring diagrams

Identify required spare parts and components

Communicate directly with manufacturer when technical assistance is required

Attend customer sites throughout Melbourne and Victoria

Undertake interstate travel when required for installations, servicing and customer support

Undertake occasional overseas travel for technical support, training and manufacturer visits

Maintain accurate service and maintenance records

Provide professional and reliable customer service

Assist with workshop repairs and equipment preparation

About You

Ideally, you will have:

Robust mechanical skills and practical fault-finding ability

Previous experience as a service technician, mechanical - maintenance fitter or similar





Experience working on European industrial or commercial equipment

Restricted electrical licence (disconnect/reconnect) an advantage

Ability to read technical manuals, mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams

Experience with motors, sensors, relays and electrical controls

PLC and variable-speed drive knowledge would be highly regarded but is not essential

Good communication and customer service skills

Ability to work independently and take responsibility for completing jobs

Willingness and ability to travel interstate and overseas when required

Italian Language Skills

A significant advantage of this position is the ability to communicate directly with our Italian manufacturer and technical personnel.

The ability to speak and understand Italian, particularly in a technical environment, would therefore be highly regarded.

Training & Development

We are looking for someone interested in developing a long-term career with our business.

The successful applicant will initially undertake a period of familiarisation and hands-on training in Melbourne, working with our equipment, customers and technical team.

Following this initial period, there may be an opportunity to travel to Italy for further specialist technical and manufacturer training.

This would provide direct exposure to the manufacturers, their technical teams and the equipment at factory level,



allowing the successful applicant to develop into one of our key technical specialists in Australia.

Ongoing manufacturer and technical training may also be provided as new equipment and technologies are introduced.

Travel

This is a Melbourne-based position; however, some travel is an key part of the role.

The successful applicant must be comfortable with:

Regular travel throughout metropolitan and regional Victoria

Interstate travel as required

Occasional overseas travel

Potential manufacturer training in Italy

Staying away from home for short periods when installations, service requirements or training require it

All approved business travel will be arranged and paid for by the company in accordance with company policy.
