About the opportunity The Governance and Compliance Advisor provides high-level technical expertise and support on all workplace safety matters, interventions and strategies to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Health Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) Management System, legislative obligations, codes of practice, Queensland Health (QH) policy and standards, and Australian Standards.

The role provides high-level advice, analysis and reports in relation to a range of workplace health and safety, workplace rehabilitation and psychosocial/wellbeing related matters with a particular focus on governance, consultation and representation arrangements.

The role works collaboratively with key stakeholders across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) to develop, coordinate and implement strategic health and safety management systems, programs and initiatives supporting effective governance, consultation and representation.

The role proactively monitors organisational health and safety governance performance, current research, emerging issues, legislative changes and industry trends to identify and develop innovative best practice initiatives and ensure legislative and policy compliance to address key HSW risks across the Townsville Hospital and Health Service.

Role requirements

- Whilst not mandatory, a tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety, Risk Management, or Governance would be highly regarded.
- Lead Auditor in OHS Management Systems is desirable.
- Certificate IV Training and Assessment is desirable.
- While not mandatory, knowledge of Industry Standards; ISO 45001:2018 Occupational health and safety management systems, ISO 37301:2021 Compliance Management System and AS ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management Standards would be well regarded.

- Salary range: $4292.70 - $4670.60 p.f. (AO5)
- 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
