About the role:
As the Graphic Designer, you’ll support First National's network members and national office team by creating visually appealing and engaging designs for various digital and print materials while following the national brand guidelines. This is a maximum-term, full-time position through to June 2027, reporting directly to the Marketing Manager. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and deliver creative solutions that effectively communicate messages, enhance brand identity, and meet First National's key objectives.

- Ensure brand consistency across a range of digital and print channels.
- Keep up to date with design trends, tools, and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement.
- Participate in weekly team meetings and cross-functional collaboration activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintain brand consistency across all design projects, ensuring adherence to established brand guidelines and visual identity standards.
- Adopt a collaborative approach to communicate and discuss design requests with team members to ensure clear understanding of member brief and expectations.
- Prioritise and manage multiple projects ensuring deadlines are met.
- Maintain high-quality standards with attention to detail.
- Offer design options or alternatives to members where possible.
- Support the rollout of new brand design across assets and communications.
- Complete design briefs for the national team including event collateral, national communication items, information documents, booklets and brochures, office and car mock-ups, logo suites, banners and sliders for intranet, and social media assets.
- Redesign recruitment booklets and info packs for Network Growth Manager and State Membership Managers, outlining the network’s products and services.
- Redesign popular documents such as the Buyer, Seller, Landlord and Tenant Guides.
- Produce high-quality graphics, icons, illustrations, and images that align with project requirements and enhance visual storytelling.
- Create editable templates in Design Hub (powered by Canva).
- Conduct thorough reviews of designs to ensure accuracy, adherence to brand guidelines, and resolution of visual inconsistencies or errors.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven work experience as a Graphic Designer or in a similar role.
- Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and familiarity with graphic design principles.
- Knowledge in creating design templates in Canva.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating a wide range of design skills, creativity, and attention to detail (please provide a link to your portfolio in the cover letter).
- Ability to interpret and apply brand guidelines.
- Strong understanding of branding, typography, colour theory, visual hierarchy and layout design principles.
- Understanding of grid systems, layout structures, alignment and spacing.
- Knowledge of print and digital design principles.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present design concepts and ideas to stakeholders.
- Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and Teams.
