About the role

Play a key role in shaping how Swinburne recognises, rewards and develops its people. As our Remuneration & Benefits Consultant, you'll provide expert advice and lead the delivery of remuneration, classification, performance and talent initiatives that support a high-performing and engaged workforce.

Working with a high degree of autonomy, you'll partner with leaders across the University to deliver key people programs, including annual remuneration reviews, classification governance, academic promotions and performance and development processes. You'll apply your specialist knowledge to interpret enterprise agreement requirements, align remuneration practices with market trends, and drive practical, sustainable people outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a remuneration professional who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands‑on delivery. Experience working in a university or similarly complex academic environment will be highly regarded, particularly where it has involved academic remuneration, agreed salary arrangements or remuneration review processes. You'll contribute to policy and process improvement, influence key stakeholders, and help ensure Swinburne's people practices remain fair, contemporary and consistent with our remuneration and classification framework.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

- Provide expert advice on remuneration, classification and employment matters, ensuring alignment with University policy, enterprise agreements and market practice.
- Lead the classification committee process, including chairing meetings, managing complex submissions, advising stakeholders and maintaining sound classification governance.
- Provide senior advice, project discipline and stakeholder support.
- Provide clear,



practical and authoritative communication on remuneration and classification.
- Build effective relationships across senior stakeholder groups to resolve complex remuneration and classification matters and support strong service outcomes.
- Experience partnering with academic leaders, or within a higher education environment, will be highly regarded.

Qualifications

- Postgraduate qualifications or progress towards postgraduate qualifications with extensive relevant experience; extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- MCD Qualifications Desired
