Senior Crane Technician – Overhead Cranes Location: Melbourne, VIC Salary: $60 per hour + Super Permanent | Full-Time

The Prospect

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Crane Technician to join a specialist overhead crane business based in Melbourne. This is a hands‑on role suited to an experienced Overhead Crane Technician, Crane Electrician or Electrical Technician with strong experience across crane servicing, breakdowns, maintenance, fault finding and repairs. You’ll be responsible for servicing and maintaining a range of overhead crane equipment across customer sites throughout Melbourne, while also providing technical support and guidance to other technicians.

Key Responsibilities

- Service, maintain and repair overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections
- Diagnose and fault-find electrical, mechanical and control system issues
- Complete breakdown repairs and respond to customer call outs
- Carry out crane inspections, testing and adjustments
- Work on motors, drives, controls, limit switches, pendant controls and electrical systems
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Complete crane installations, upgrades and modifications where required
- Identify faults and provide practical solutions to customers
- Complete service reports, job documentation and maintenance records
- Liaise directly with customers and provide technical advice
- Assist with larger crane projects and complex repairs




- Provide technical support and guidance to other technicians
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with relevant Australian Standards

About You

- Previous experience working as an Overhead Crane Technician / Crane Electrician
- Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic experience
- Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing overhead cranes
- A-Grade Electrical Licence – essential
- Strong knowledge of crane electrical systems, controls, motors and drives
- Mechanical knowledge and the ability to carry out mechanical repairs
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
- Experience working independently on customer sites
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- A strong safety focus and ability to work to Australian Standards
- Current driver’s licence
- Ability to work as part of a team and provide technical support to junior technicians
- Previous experience with EOT cranes, gantry cranes, hoists or other lifting equipment
