Mount View High School has a strong tradition of academic, creative and performing arts and sporting success. The school has a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum that is supported by a variety of programs including Academic Enrichment, Leo's leadership development, as well as award winning Wellbeing programs. Our high quality, specialist facilities include a Learning Exhibition and Performance Centre, STEM centre, Agricultural farm, Indoor and Outdoor gymnasiums, GP clinic and Wellbeing hub. Aboriginal culture is highly valued at our school and the Amarookoba centre provides a facility for tutoring, wellbeing, cultural and mentoring programs for Aboriginal students. Senior students have the benefit of a dedicated Senior space and Cafe, Senior Study Tutor, Futures Centre and opportunities to explore curricula with local secondary schools and TAFE Campuses. With a student enrolment of approximately 940 students of which 20% are Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, the school is a proud member of the Cessnock Community of Great Public Schools (CCGPS) and has a close working relationship with the Korreil Wonnai Aboriginal Education Consultative Group. Mount View also has a presence at the Cessnock Business Chamber of Commerce contributing to delivering local community, employment and training opportunities.

Our priorities include a focus on improving student learning outcomes through explicit, consistent and research-informed quality teaching whilst using student assessment data to inform teaching. Of equal importance is improving student and staff wellbeing using research and evidenced based strategies in a planned approach.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

- Demonstrated expertise in whole-school attendance systems,



including the effective use and analysis of student attendance information to identify concerns, coordinate interventions and improve attendance outcomes.
- Demonstrated expertise in the construction and ongoing management of a complex secondary school timetable, including the use of specialised timetabling software to reconcile curriculum, enrolment, staffing and organisational requirements.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex daily school staffing operations, including staff absences, casual teacher employment and deployment, and whole-school variations to routine.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education,
