ROLE SUMMARY

As a Hire Centre Technician at LGH, you will be an integral part of our team dedicated to maintaining the high standards of our lifting equipment fleet. We are seeking individuals with the right blend of experience, qualifications, and enthusiasm to contribute to our continued success.

OVERVIEW OF ACCOUNTABILITIES

Servicing, Examination, and Testing of Lifting Equipment:

- Perform meticulous servicing, thorough examination, and rigorous testing of a diverse range of specialist lifting equipment, including but not limited to pneumatic hoists, ensuring adherence to stringent regulations.
- Utilise technical expertise to identify potential issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions, guaranteeing the safety and operational efficiency of all equipment.
- Ensure load/pull chain is properly inspected, maintained and stored.
- Ensure equipment is painted and all safety tags and warnings are replaced if necessary.
- Confirm that RFID tag is installed and working properly.

Order Fulfilment Responsibilities:





- Accurately prepare orders in accordance with LGH procedures and guidelines.
- Load/unload vehicles as required.
- Examine customer returns and determine acceptability in accordance with LGH policy.

Driving Responsibilities:

- Operate company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner in accordance with all laws.
- Delivery and/or pickup of orders to customers in a timely manner.
- Pickup equipment or supplies from vendors as required.
- Ensure proper maintenance of company vehicles including keeping vehicle clean and neat.
- Report all accidents/damage/malfunctions to Hire Centre Manager.

Safety Focus:

- Exemplify our safety-first culture within the workshop, emphasising the importance of hazard identification, risk assessment, and adherence to safety protocols.
- Utilize safe systems of work, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and secure equipment operation practices.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure the provision of secure equipment to all customers, minimising the risk of accidents and injuries.

Collaboration with Various Departments:

- Foster strong collaborative relationships with departments such as the hire desk and sales, actively engaging in cross-functional communication to understand customer requirements comprehensively.
- Liaise closely with colleagues to coordinate equipment availability, delivery schedules, and any specific customer requests, ensuring seamless fulfilment of orders and exceptional service delivery.

Priority Management and Decision-Making:

- Work in tandem with the Hire Centre Manager to assess and prioritise urgent warehouse or customer needs,



employing sound judgment and critical thinking to allocate resources effectively and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in managing competing priorities, balancing the demands of day-to-day operations with the overarching objectives of the organisation.

Effective Communication and Team Coordination:

- Maintain open lines of communication within the hire centre team, fostering a collaborative and supportive working environment conducive to innovation and continuous improvement.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or customer complaints to Hire Centre Manager immediately.
- Facilitate transparent communication across the organisation, disseminating relevant information, updates, and best practices to enhance overall efficiency and alignment with strategic goals.

Additional Responsibilities:

- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade and nature of this position, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving business needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

- Strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Possession of a Full Driving Licence (current & clean – no previous Drink Driving bans acceptable).
- Holds a Medium Rigid (MR) licence.
- Holds a forklift licence.
- Must be able to push/pull and carry/lift up to 25kg
- Flexibility regarding working hours, including early starts and late finishes.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Experience in customer-facing roles.
- Demonstrated experience in people management.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable

- Completion of a mechanical apprenticeship.
- While experience in a similar position is preferred, we are open to training candidates with the right aptitude and attitude.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Effective planning and prioritisation skills, especially under pressure.
- Willingness to diversify job roles to support team members.
