About the Role

As a Home Care Support Worker, you will provide practical, personal and social support to older people in their homes and the community.

Duties may include:

- Domestic assistance: vacuuming, dusting, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, laundry and changing bed linen
- Personal care: assisting with bathing, dressing and undressing
- Social support: shopping, meal preparation and social outings
- Transport: assisting clients to attend medical appointments and outings
- Supporting clients with mobility and maintaining their independence

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role. You must be able to safely perform personal care and household duties, follow manual handling practices, walk upstairs and lift items weighing up to 5 kg. The role may also require you to lift a wheelchair in and out of a vehicle.

You must be willing and able to travel between client locations. A pre-employment fitness medical clearance may be required to confirm your suitability for the role.

You are compassionate, reliable and committed to supporting older people.

You will have

- Experience working in home care or a similar support role
- An understanding of culturally and linguistically diverse communities
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- The physical capacity to safely perform the duties of the role
- Flexibility and willingness to travel between client locations
- Fluency in a second language is highly regarded but not essential.

Essential Criteria

- Certificate III in Individual Support, Community Services or a related qualification
- Experience providing in-home care
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- Valid driver's licence
- Own comprehensively insured motor vehicle
- Access to and ability to use a smartphone
- Flexibility and availability to work
