Flinders Island sits in Bass Strait, off the north-east coast of Tasmania — a remarkable island of granite mountains, wild beaches, abundant wildlife, exceptional produce and a small, welcoming community. It’s also home to Outscape Flinders Island, a new hosted travel experience designed to help guests slow down and experience the island through its landscapes, food, stories and people.

Our experiences are deliberately small and personal, and that means the details matter. The way a room feels when a guest first walks through the door. Beautifully made beds with luxurious linen. A bathroom that feels immaculate. Everything where it should be. The little things that quietly tell a guest they are being looked after.

Alongside Outscape, our On Island Time collection includes beautiful holiday homes across Flinders Island, each requiring the same care and attention between guests.

As we grow, we’re building a housekeeping team to help us look after both.

We’re looking for a Housekeeping Lead — and great housekeepers to join them

We have opportunities for full-time, part-time and casual team members, including a full time leadership position for someone who would like to take responsibility for the day-to-day standards and coordination of our housekeeping operation.

Housekeeping Lead – Full-Time

This role would suit someone who loves creating order, takes pride in maintaining beautiful spaces and is comfortable helping a small team stay organised. You’ll be hands-on in the housekeeping operation while also helping coordinate daily priorities, property turnovers, linen, presentation standards, supplies and the housekeeping team.

You don’t need to arrive with a corporate housekeeping title. We’re much more interested in someone who notices what needs doing, communicates well, cares about standards and enjoys taking responsibility.

Housekeepers – Full-Time, Part-Time & Casual





We’d also love to hear from people looking for regular housekeeping work across Outscape and our On Island Time properties. There are opportunities for additional full-time team members, as well as part-time and casual work.

Some of our On Island Time property cleans happen during the day and may work particularly well for people looking for shorter shifts or work that fits around school hours.

What the work looks like

Depending on the day and your role, you may be:

- Cleaning and preparing guest accommodation to a very high standard
- Making and presenting beds with luxurious linen
- Cleaning bathrooms, kitchens and shared guest spaces
- Managing linen and laundry
- Restocking guest supplies and amenities
- Completing arrival and presentation checks
- Preparing On Island Time properties between guests
- Keeping housekeeping stores and equipment organised
- Noticing maintenance issues or anything that needs attention and reporting it to the team
- Helping us continually improve the way our housekeeping operation works

Our Housekeeping Lead will also help coordinate the team, daily priorities and standards across the operation.

A better way to manage the laundry

We’re also developing an environmentally conscious commercial laundry at our Wharf base, which will service both Outscape and our On Island Time properties. Rather than housekeeping being an endless juggle of linen in different locations, we’re creating a proper central system for washing, drying, folding, storing and preparing linen for each property.





It’s another part of building a housekeeping operation that is organised, thoughtful and enjoyable to work within.

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need to come with years of housekeeping experience. What matters most is that you care, notice the little things and take pride in your work.

You’ll probably enjoy this role if you:

- Naturally notice when something isn’t quite right
- Like leaving a space better than you found it
- Are reliable and comfortable working independently
- Enjoy being part of a small, supportive team
- Can work efficiently without losing attention to detail
- Are happy to pitch in when priorities change
- Understand that great hospitality often happens quietly, behind the scenes

Experience in housekeeping, accommodation, tourism or hospitality is certainly welcome, but attitude and care matter enormously to us.

Life on Flinders Island

For mainland applicants, this role also offers the opportunity to experience a very different way of living and working. Flinders Island is remote, beautiful and wonderfully unhurried. Island life tends to be practical and connected — people know one another, plans sometimes change with the weather, and being part of a small community is very different from living in a city.

For the right person, that’s very much part of the appeal.
