We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused State Manager to lead and oversee our transport rental operations in Victoria.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, profitability, customer satisfaction, and team performance across our Derrimut branch and workshop. You'll lead a team, ensuring our fleet, people, and processes consistently deliver exceptional service outcomes for our customers.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the state's operations, including branch management, workshop performance, fleet utilisation, customer relationships, financial outcomes, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You'll be a visible and hands-on leader who can balance strategic thinking with operational execution while building a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and customer excellence.

What you’ll be doing

Champion a strong safety-first culture while ensuring compliance with all operational and safety standards.

Lead branch and workshop operations to deliver exceptional customer service, operational excellence, and sustainable business growth.





Develop and execute operational strategies that improve performance, productivity, quality and overall branch efficiency.

Maximise fleet utilisation and asset performance by overseeing availability, maintenance, and minimising downtime.

Manage branch financial performance, including budgets, revenue growth, profitability, and cost control initiatives.

Lead, coach, and develop managers and operational teams, fostering a high-performance culture built on accountability and service excellence.

Build and maintain strong customer and stakeholder relationships, driving customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnerships.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Significant leadership experience within transport, logistics, fleet management, vehicle rental, equipment rental, or a related industry.

Proven success leading operations and high-performing teams.

Robust commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, P&L; performance, and operational KPIs.

Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships and drive business growth.

Strong knowledge of fleet management, maintenance operations, and asset utilisation.

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

High proficiency in business systems and Microsoft Office applications.
