The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) is seeking an experienced and strategic Social Media Manager to join our Content Studio team on a 12-month maternity leave contract. Reporting to the Content Studio Senior Manager, this role leads VRC's social media strategy, content direction, audience growth and community engagement across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and X. You will be responsible for shaping VRC's social presence, driving performance across channels and ensuring social media supports key organisational priorities including membership growth, attendance, customer engagement, brand awareness, hospitality and the world-renowned Melbourne Cup Carnival. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced social media leader who can balance strategic thinking with creative storytelling, performance optimisation and team leadership.
Key responsibilities
Develop and deliver VRC's social media strategy aligned to business and commercial objectives
Drive audience growth, engagement and brand relevance across all key platforms
Create platform-specific strategies for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn and X
Lead social planning for major campaigns, racing events and the Melbourne Cup Carnival
Identify emerging trends, technologies and audience behaviours to keep VRC at the forefront of social innovation
Own VRC's social content strategy and editorial direction
Provide creative direction to photographers, videographers, designers, creators and agencies
Lead the social media component of integrated marketing campaigns
Oversee community engagement strategies and response frameworks across all channels
Establish KPI frameworks and reporting processes, analyse campaign and content performance, and deliver meaningful insights to stakeholders
About you
5+ years' experience in social media, digital content or marketing roles
Proven experience developing and delivering successful social media strategies
Solid knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, X and YouTube
Experience managing social channels for large consumer-facing brands
Exceptional storytelling, copywriting and content planning capabilities
Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn insights into action
Experience working with agencies, influencers and content creators
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
Demonstrated people leadership experience
Understanding of content production including photography, videography and post-production workflowsExperience within sport, racing, entertainment, hospitality or events.
Experience leading social media for major events, festivals or large-scale campaigns.
Familiarity with social listening and reporting platforms.
Experience collaborating on paid social campaigns and optimisation.
