About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Identified Domestic & Family Violence Specialist to provide culturally safe, trauma-informed support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence.
This role involves providing support including risk assessment, case management, advocacy, and group-based supports to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander victim-survivors of domestic and family violence within our Child, Family and Wellbeing Team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, culturally appropriate domestic and family violence case management and crisis support.
- Conduct risk assessments, develop safety plans, and provide trauma-informed interventions.
- Advocate for clients to ensure access to housing, legal, health, and specialist services.
- Work collaboratively with community organisations and service providers to enhance safety responses.
- Facilitate group programs, workshops, and community education initiatives.
- Maintain accurate client records and contribute to service reporting and evaluation.
About You:
- This role is an identified position for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women in accordance with genuine occupational requirements under Section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991).
- Tertiary qualifications in social work,
human services, psychology, or a related field.
- Experience providing domestic and family violence support within Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Strong understanding of gender-based violence, intergenerational trauma, and culturally responsive practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- Proficient in case management, risk assessment, safety planning, and service referrals.
- Commitment to professional development, ongoing training, and reflective practice.
