20K Recruitment is exclusively recruiting on behalf of our client, a young and growing multidisciplinary financial services group providing accounting, financial planning, legal and lending services to individuals, families and business owners.
n Based in modern Collins Street offices close to public transport , our client has an established and loyal client base and a growing accounting division. You’ll join a team of three accounting professionals , report directly to the Managing Director , and have the opportunity to play an important role as the accounting function continues to expand.
n Importantly, there is no expectation to bring your own clients, generate a book of business or build an accounting practice from scratch.
n The business also works with clients who have international connections, including Australians living overseas, expatriates in Australia and clients with overseas assets or income . This provides an opportunity to broaden your technical experience over time.
n As the division grows, there is a genuine opportunity for the successful candidate to take on greater responsibility and potentially progress into a position running the accounting division .

The Role n

The role will primarily focus on tax and compliance work across individuals, SMSFs and small business clients, with some exposure to expatriate and internationally connected clients.

Key responsibilities include:

- Preparing and lodging individual income tax returns
n
- Preparing SMSF financial statements and tax returns
n
- Completing tax and accounting compliance for companies, trusts and small businesses
n
- Assisting with expatriate and international tax matters
n
- Managing client lodgements, deadlines and workflow
n
- Liaising directly with clients regarding tax and accounting matters
n
- Working alongside financial advisers, lawyers and lending specialists on shared client matters
n
- Maintaining accurate records and a high standard of client service
n
- Assisting with general accounting and tax matters across the existing client base
n

The business uses modern systems including Xero, BGL and HubSpot CRM .

n

International tax experience is not essential , but the role provides an opportunity to develop knowledge in expatriate and cross-border tax matters over time.

About You n

We’re looking for an experienced accountant who is technically capable, organised and confident managing their own workload.

n

Ideally, you will have:

n

n
- Previous public-practice/professional services accounting experience
n
- Strong experience preparing individual tax returns
n
- Experience with SMSF accounts and tax returns
n
- Exposure to small business tax and accounting
n
- Relevant accounting qualifications
n
- Current Tax Agent registration, or the qualifications and experience required to obtain registration
n
- A current Public Practice Certificate, or eligibility to obtain one where required
n
- CA, CPA or IPA membership would be advantageous
n
- Strong attention to detail and an ability to manage deadlines
n
- A skilled and approachable manner with clients
n
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team
n
- An interest in international or expatriate tax would be beneficial, but is not essential
n
