EduCare Specialist Services – Newcastle NSW

EDUCARE Specialist Services is seeking a dedicated Medical-Health Receptionist to join our team in Newcastle, Maitland & Hunter NSW on a part-time basis. This is a crucial frontline position that sets the tone for patient interactions and ensures the smooth operation of our medical facilities. As a Medical-Health Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, playing an essential role in creating a welcoming and professional environment whilst managing administrative tasks that support the clinical operations of our specialist services.

Key responsibilities

- Greeting patients and visitors in a warm and skilled manner, and directing them to appropriate areas or staff
- Managing patient appointments using electronic scheduling systems, including booking, confirming and rescheduling appointments
- Processing patient registration and admission documentation accurately and efficiently
- Answering telephone enquiries and directing calls to appropriate departments or staff members
- Maintaining patient confidentiality and ensuring compliance with privacy legislation and practice policies
- Processing payments and managing administrative billing functions as required
- Managing patient records and maintaining accurate filing systems
- Providing information to patients about services, procedures and appointments
- Supporting the clinical and administrative teams with routine office tasks to ensure efficient service delivery
- Maintaining a clean and organised reception area

What we're looking for

- Previous experience working as a receptionist,



preferably in a medical or healthcare setting
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse patient groups
- Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic health records software
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- Demonstrated commitment to patient confidentiality and understanding of healthcare privacy requirements
- A professional demeanour with a customer-service-focused approach
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with administrative tasks
- Relevant qualifications in reception, administration or healthcare support (preferred)
- Knowledge of medical terminology (advantageous)
