CEI Design Pty Ltd specialises in traffic signals, road lighting and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) design and consulting for the road infrastructure industry. Our mission is to help create safe, efficient road networks through practical ITS and electrical infrastructure design.

We support projects across the planning, design, construction and operational phases. We are a small team of highly experienced professionals with backgrounds spanning government and private sector delivery, design, construction and operational roles.

About the Chance

We’re seeking a Trainee Traffic Signals Designer with up to 2 years’ experience to join our small team where individual efforts are recognised and rewarded.

As a small, remote-first team, we rely on people who can manage their own time and take initiative when something is unclear. You won't be micromanaged, but you will be genuinely supported. We’re looking for someone who is curious about how road infrastructure works and interested in building a long-term career in the industry.

You’ll work closely with senior leaders who will mentor you to accelerate your technical capability and consulting skills. This is a full-time, remote-first role. Occasional attendance at client meetings, team sessions and site inspections within South-East Queensland will be required.

In this role, you will:

- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and colleagues through open, proactive communication.
- Assist with initial project reviews, data collation,



site inspections and field audits.
- Attend project meetings alongside senior leaders and contribute to achieving project outcomes.
- Learn how traffic signal designs are developed by assisting with the preparation of design drawings and associated engineering documentation.
- Progressively build your technical capability and consulting skills across a range of projects.
- Actively engage in professional development to support your career goals.

What you'll bring:

- Up to 2 years’ experience in design, drafting, CAD documentation, technical drawing or a related field – specific traffic signals experience is not required.
- A natural attention to detail and a willingness to learn
- Clear communication skills and confidence to ask questions or raise issues early
- Comfortable using Microsoft 365 tools including Word, Excel, SharePoint and Teams.
- A current and valid Queensland Class C driver’s licence (or equivalent) for site inspections and field audits.
