Junior Fuel System Installation Fitter

WSP Services Pty Ltd is looking for a motivated and reliable Junior Fuel System Installation Fitter to join our growing team in Perth, Western Australia.

This is an opportunity for someone who is looking to learn a trade, develop practical skills, and build a long-term career within the fuel and electrical infrastructure industry .

At WSP Services, we prioritise culture, safety, quality and teamwork . The successful candidate will work alongside experienced fuel system installers, electricians, project managers and other trades, gaining hands-on experience across a range of fuel infrastructure projects.

About the Role

As a Junior Fuel System Installation Fitter, you will be trained in the installation, modification, testing, maintenance and commissioning of fuel storage and dispensing systems across retail, commercial and industrial fuel facilities.

You will progressively develop an understanding of:

- Fuel storage tanks and fuel dispensing systems
- Underground and above-ground fuel pipework
- Pumps, dispensers, valves and associated equipment
- Mechanical and civil construction activities
- Fuel system installation and maintenance
- Hazardous area requirements and safety practices
- Australian Standards and industry regulations
- Reading drawings, plans and technical documentation
- Testing, commissioning and fault-finding
- Site safety, quality and environmental requirements

This role is designed to provide on-the-job training and practical experience , with the opportunity to develop into a skilled and qualified fuel system installer as your experience and capabilities grow.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist experienced fuel system installers with the installation of underground and above-ground fuel tanks, pipework, dispensers, pumps and associated equipment.
- Learn and develop practical skills in fuel system installation, modification, maintenance and remediation.
- Assist with pressure testing, leak detection, integrity testing and commissioning activities.
- Learn to read and understand engineering drawings, site plans and technical documentation.
- Develop an understanding of hazardous area requirements and fuel industry regulations.
- Assist with site preparation, installation works,



equipment assembly and general construction activities.
- Work alongside electricians, mechanical trades, project managers, contractors and site representatives.
- Participate in site inspections, maintenance, troubleshooting and emergency repair activities.
- Complete job documentation, service reports, quality records and other project documentation with guidance from experienced team members.
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas to a high standard.
- Follow all WSP Services, client and site safety procedures.
- Maintain a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental protection and customer service.
- Take direction from experienced tradespeople and progressively take on greater responsibility as skills and knowledge develop.

Skills & Experience Previous fuel industry experience is not essential . We are looking for someone who demonstrates:

- A genuine interest in learning a trade and developing a career within the fuel industry.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
- Good attitude and ability to work as part of a team.
- Reliability, punctuality and a willingness to take direction.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A commitment to working safely and following procedures.
- Basic mechanical, construction or practical skills would be advantageous.
- Ability to work outdoors and undertake physically demanding tasks when required.
- Current driver's license.
- Construction Industry White Card, or willingness to obtain one.

Training & Development WSP Services will provide the successful applicant with practical, on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced fuel system installers and other tradespeople .

As you develop, you will have the chance to gain experience in:

- Fuel system installation
- Mechanical fitting
- Pipework installation
- Fuel storage and dispensing systems
- Testing and commissioning
- Hazardous area environments




- Fuel system maintenance and fault-finding
- Civil and construction activities
- Reading technical drawings and plans
- Quality assurance and project documentation
- Procore and Hammertech
- Industry-specific license's, tickets and qualifications

There will also be opportunities to obtain additional industry training and certifications as your skills and responsibilities develop. Desirable Qualifications & Experience The following are advantageous but not essential :

- Mechanical trade qualification or previous trade experience.
- Pre-apprenticeship, TAFE or similar practical training.
- Confined Space Entry.
- Working at Heights.
- First Aid.
- Forklift or other relevant high-risk work license's.
- Previous construction, plumbing, mechanical, electrical or civil experience.
- Previous exposure to fuel, petroleum or hazardous area environments.

This is a junior position and previous fuel industry experience is not required. The right attitude, willingness to learn and commitment to developing your skills are more important than having extensive industry experience.
