About the role

n

The Team Leader Family Services is responsible for the leadership and coordination of the Family Support, Justice and Housing programs, including the supervision and support of case workers across these service areas. This also includes a key focus of ensuring high quality, timely and culturally protected services are provided to Aboriginal children, individuals and families referred to these programs.

n

Building effective working relationships and collaboration across other MDAS Programs and with external stakeholders is also essential to this role.

n

This is a full-time ongoing position based at our Swan Hill office location.

Key Responsibilities

n

Provide daily oversight and coordination of the Family Services,



Housing and Justice Programs.

n

Supervise, support and provide practice guidance to case workers across the programs,

n

Manage and monitor referral processes, including oversight of referrals received, allocation and timely service responses.

n

Ensure Aboriginal culture is embedded throughout service delivery and that programs provide culturally safe and responsive practice.

n

Coach and model good practice with staff, including undertaking joint outreach where appropriate and facilitating reflective practice and debriefing discussions

n

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

n

Demonstrated ability to lead, supervise and support staff within a multidisciplinary service environment

n

Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people

n

Effective organisation and time management skills with ability to oversee multiple program areas, operating under different funding and reporting requirements

n

Degree in Social Work, Psychology or similar field or Diploma of Community Services and substantial relevant experience.
