Practice Manager – Specialist Ophthalmology

Geelong | Full-time | Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Practice Manager — or an Assistant Practice Manager ready to step up — to join a well-established single-doctor Ophthalmology practice in Geelong at the rooms of Dr Merv Ferdinands.

Genie experience highly preferred – candidates with strong Genie knowledge will be prioritised.

This role would be a particularly great fit for an experienced Assistant Practice Manager who is ready to take on greater responsibility and grow into a Practice Manager position, with the benefit of a comprehensive 3-month training and handover period.

We are particularly interested in candidates with specialist rooms experience who understand the professionalism, organisation and attention to detail required in a specialist medical practice.

About the role

You will be responsible for the smooth day-to-day running of the practice, including:

- Practice operations and administration
- Team coordination, management, rostering, and staff support
- Patient bookings and enquiries




- Billing and accounts
- Liaising with patients, hospitals and other healthcare providers
- Organising smooth running of surgical bookings and theatre lists
- Supporting Dr Ferdinands and ensuring an exceptional patient experience

About you

Ideally, you will have:

- Previous Practice Management or Assistant Practice Management experience
- Specialist medical rooms experience
- Strong Genie medical software experience
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- A professional, calm and approachable manner
- The confidence and initiative to take ownership and grow into the role
