About the Role

This is a newly created position responsible for providing strategic leadership and advice in the development and delivery of civics and education programs to improve understanding the rights and obligations associated with democratic participation. You will provide centralised advice and leadership to various internal and external stakeholders, supporting a considered and consistent effective approach to voting and regulatory requirements in NSW, addressing gaps in general knowledge about civics.

The role is Ongoing Full-time position.

Our work includes

- Running and regulating elections
- Communicating and engaging with current and future voters, key NSW community stakeholders and NSW election participants; and
- Investigating possible offences and enforcing electoral and lobbying laws such as the Electoral Act 2017 and the Electoral Funding Act 2018.

Key knowledge, experience and essential requirements

As the successful candidate, you will have:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent professional experience.




- Demonstrated high-level communication skills and experience in the provision of high-quality learning and communication materials.
- Experience in delivering community and education engagement. Teacher professional development delivery highly regarded.
- Demonstrated capacity to contribute to building and experience in delivering community and education engagement. Teacher professional development delivery highly regarded.
- Experience building relationships with stakeholders and influencing across organisations, particularly in government, to deliver public value.
- An evidence-informed approach to resource allocation and decision making.
- No affiliations with political parties, candidates, elected members, third-party campaigners, donors or registered lobbyists that could undermine the political impartiality of the Electoral Commission or that are otherwise inconsistent with its Political Neutrality Policy.
- Satisfactory criminal record check result.
