Kensington Community Children’s Co-Operative (KCCC) is a not-for-profit, community-based early childhood service providing high-quality education and care for children from infancy through to kindergarten. At KCCC, we are deeply committed to creating environments where children, families and educators experience a strong sense of belonging. About the Role

We are seeking a confident, collaborative and values-led Lead Educator (Room Leader) to join our team. This is an opportunity to lead a room with intention — building a strong, respectful team culture while creating meaningful, engaging learning experiences for children.

You will work closely with the Educational Leader and leadership team to support high-quality practice, reflective thinking and continuous improvement.

We are looking for someone to start in January 2027, but will consider an earlier start date for the right candidate.

About You

You are an educator who:

- Leads with empathy, clarity and professionalism
- Builds positive, respectful relationships with children, families and colleagues
- Is confident in guiding and mentoring a team of educators
- Values collaboration and contributes to a strong team culture
- Is organised, proactive and reflective in your practice




- Is passionate about creating inclusive, engaging learning environments
- Preferrably has experience as a Lead Educator in a community not-for-profit setting

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the daily operation of your room, ensuring a safe, nurturing and engaging environment
- Plan, implement and evaluate meaningful, play-based learning programs aligned with the VEYLDF
- Support and mentor educators to build confidence, capability and reflective practice
- Foster a positive and inclusive culture within your team
- Build strong partnerships with families through open and respectful communication
- Observe, assess and document children’s learning and development
- Contribute to service-wide improvement initiatives and reflective processes
- Ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework, Child Safe Standards and service policies

Requirements

- Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care
- Experience as a Lead Educator
- Sound knowledge of the VEYLDF, EYLF and National Quality Framework
- Understanding of Child Safe Standards, Mandatory Reporting and child protection practices
- Current Working With Children Check
- Current First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma training (or willingness to obtain)
