Merton Lawyers , located in the heart of Hawthorn, is an established commercial law firm providing strategic, tailored legal solutions to clients across diverse industries both locally and internationally.

We are seeking a Legal Secretary / Legal Assistant to join our team and provide administrative and legal support to our Litigation Department and Queensland Practice.

The Role: Working closely with the legal teams, your responsibilities will include:

- Providing day-to-day administrative and secretarial support to lawyers
- Supporting file opening and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance
- Preparing and formatting correspondence, legal documents, and reports
- Maintaining electronic and hard-copy files and records
- Assisting with document management and filing
- Liaising with clients, courts, barristers, and other external parties
- Assisting with court and tribunal documentation and lodgements
- Managing key dates, deadlines, and follow-up actions
- Assisting with billing, invoicing,



and other administrative tasks

The Person: You will bring:

- Previous experience in a legal environment (ideally litigation)
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Confidence using different systems and technology, with proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
- Clear and professional communication skills
- A proactive approach and the ability to anticipate what needs to be done.
- The confidence to work independently while knowing when to seek assistance.
- A practical, helpful approach and a willingness to take on a broad range of responsibilities.
