About the role The Maintenance Fitter is responsible for the safe, timely and effective completion of planned, preventative, condition-based and breakdown maintenance across the business's vineyard, winery, bottling, warehouse and site-service assets. The role supports equipment availability, product quality, food safety and operational efficiency by diagnosing faults, completing repairs, maintaining accurate maintenance records and contributing to equipment upgrades and continuous improvement. Working under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Maintenance Fitter coordinates maintenance priorities with operational teams and ensures equipment is inspected, tested and safely returned to service following maintenance.

Key responsibilities

- Complete scheduled inspections, servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with the CMMS, manufacturer specifications and company requirements
- Respond to breakdowns with appropriate urgency while maintaining secure work practices and clear communication
- Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic faults and undertake electrical tasks only within the employee's qualifications and authorisation
- Dismantle, repair, replace, align and reassemble machinery and engineering components
- Fabricate or modify components, including stainless-steel components, where competent and authorised
- Log labour, inspections, repairs, parts used, failure details and equipment history accurately in the CMMS
- Monitor critical spare parts, consumables and maintenance materials and escalate reorder requirements before shortages affect operations
- Assist with coordinating specialist contractors, service providers and equipment suppliers
- Complete maintenance in production and product-contact areas in accordance with food-safety, hygiene, foreign-matter and contamination-control requirements




- Identify and support practical improvements that enhance safety, reliability, throughput, product quality and maintainability

About you

- Relevant Australian-recognised mechanical trade qualification, such as Mechanical Engineering Tradesperson, Fitter and Turner, Maintenance Fitter or equivalent
- Demonstrated maintenance experience in manufacturing, agriculture, winery, beverage, food production or a comparable operational environment
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving capability
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and schematics
- Competence using a CMMS and standard workplace computer systems
- Current driver's licence
- Ability to perform the inherent requirements of the role safely, with reasonable adjustments where applicable
- Plans and prioritises work effectively in a changing operational environment
- Works independently within authority while collaborating effectively with operational teams
- Demonstrates attention to detail, sound judgement and a high standard of workmanship
