The Role Maintenance Officer- Full Time- 76 hours per fortnight- Company car provided

We are seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Officer to work full time in our Retirement Living Units across several Southern Cross Care facilities, including Marrickville, Thirroul, Kirrawee, Caringbah and Maroubra.

The role will work closely with site teams, Village Managers, Property and contractors to ensure maintenance is completed safely, efficiently and to an appropriate standard, supporting a safe and well-maintained environment for residents, staff and visitors.



Good all round handyman skills are required as well as good general gardening knowledge to maintain the gardens and lawns.

The successful candidate will ensure that all tasks are undertaken to support service delivery outcomes including the maintenance of the property and land-based assets, plant and equipment.

- You will be responsible in providing basic general maintenance repairs (electrical & plumbing, carpentry and building)
- You will also be providing gardening maintenance tasks (sweeping, hosing, keeping the outside of buildings clean and tidy, mowing lawns, hedging and general garden maintenance)
- Undertake and oversee Preventative Maintenance relating to buildings, property and assets in accordance with the Planned Preventative Maintenance Calendar specific to each location.
- Undertake and oversee Reactive Maintenance relating to buildings, property and assets as directed across the designated area of responsibility
- Monitor and action all Maintenance works to ensure regulatory compliance across the designated area of responsibility.
- To Comply with and contribute to Work Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

- Ability and willingness to travel between Marrickville, Thirroul, Kirrawee, Caringbah and Maroubra as required.
- Current driver's license
- Trade qualification (highly preferred but not required)
- Computer skills
- Knowledge of WHS requirements and safe work practices.
- Experience as a Maintenance Person in Retirement Living (preferred)
- Previous experience in either building, fitter and turner, welder or plumber (desirable)
- Physically capable to undertake the maintenance work which can involve mowing, pruning, use of battery-operated garden maintenance tools, use of ladders and some moderate to heavy lifting including put heavy wheelie bins out each week on the kerb-side for collection.
