Come join the Corporate Services and Infrastructure Division as a Manager, Financial Accounting, where you will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise to ensure the timely and accurate delivery of operational financial accounting and asset accounting functions for the Department of Trade, Employment and Training. You will ensure the integrity and accuracy of data in the general ledger and asset register in line with prescribed requirements, policies, Australian Accounting Standards, Queensland Treasury Financial Reporting Requirements and Queensland Treasury’s Non-Current Asset Policy.

You will also provide qualified and specialist accounting advice relating to operational financial and asset accounting matters.

As the Manager, Financial Accounting, you will

- Lead the preparation of the department's annual financial statements and other statutory reporting, ensuring they meet the requirements of the Financial Accountability Act 2009, the Financial and Performance Management Standard 2019, Australian Accounting standards and Queensland Treasury guidelines.
- Manage the department's periodic financial performance reporting to Queensland Treasury and other central agencies.
- Lead the department's asset revaluation function and advise senior management on the budgetary and financial implications of asset-related decisions.
- Oversee the department's core financial operations — including accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, taxation compliance, and corporate card and travel functions — working closely with the department's shared service provider to resolve issues and improve financial processes.
- Develop and maintain the accounting systems, policies, procedures and training that support sound accrual and asset accounting practice and safeguard the integrity of the department's financial and asset records.
- Identify emerging financial management, and asset accounting risks and issues and provide transparent,



authoritative advice and options to senior management.
- Lead, coach, and develop and support a team, including performance and development planning, workload allocation and building professional and technical capability across the department.

What We Are Looking For The position requires an applicant who can:

- Lead and deliver a suite of financial processing services, particularly financial reporting, asset accounting, and the preparation of general and specific purpose financial statements.
- Contribute to identifying issues and provide both policy advice and operational direction, with ability to translate high level organisational strategies into practical outcomes and sustainable solutions
- Build and sustain effective networks with clients and key stakeholders using a principled and ethical approach in all relationships and activities, encouraging collaborative decision making and mutually beneficial business outcomes
