As Manager Land Use Planning, you will lead Council’s strategic land use planning function and manage a team of four planning professionals. You will oversee the review and amendment of key planning instruments, including the Local Environmental Plan, Development Control Plan and Local Strategic Planning Statement.

This is a highly influential role where you will provide expert advice to Council and the Executive Leadership Team, contribute to strategic and corporate planning, oversee budgets and performance measures, and represent Council at meetings, committees and public forums. You will balance legislative requirements with a practical, solutions-focused approach to deliver sustainable growth and positive placemaking outcomes for the community.

About you

You are a strategic thinker, confident people leader and experienced planner who can navigate complexity without losing sight of the community outcome.

You will bring a tertiary qualification in planning, strong experience in strategic land use planning and a thorough understanding of relevant legislation. You will also have experience developing plans, managing budgets and providing clear, considered advice to senior leaders and decision-makers.

Your communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills will enable you to build effective relationships, resolve competing priorities and guide your team to deliver timely, professional and customer-focused services.

Most importantly, you will bring initiative, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to helping the region grow in a considered and sustainable way.
