Primary Objective: The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries works to grow and maintain our reputation as a supplier of safe and quality agricultural produce and sustainable fisheries, through efficient regulation, scientific research and biosecurity. The department operates eight research farm facilities across the Northern Territory. These support agricultural development by providing sites for research and field trials, demonstration activities, training programs, and collaboration with industry and stakeholders. The research farms play an important role in developing recent production systems and opportunities for agricultural diversification in the Northern Territory.

The Manager Research

Farms is responsible for the Department's network of research farms across the Northern Territory. The role oversees farm staff, infrastructure, equipment, livestock,



and operations to ensure the farms are safe, reliable, and well-run sites for agricultural research, demonstration, training, and industry engagement. Working closely with researchers, industry partners, and regional teams, the position ensures our research farms, located throughout the NT are ready to support projects that improve farming systems and contribute to the growth of agriculture in the Northern Territory. Our work directly impacts the Northern Territory’s future by enhancing economic growth, sustainability, and the wellbeing of all Territorians.
