This is an opportunity for an experienced Civil Designer or Drafting Team Leader to take responsibility for a well-established drafting section within a highly regarded Tier 1 engineering consultancy.

The Canberra office has a substantial pipeline of urban development projects and requires a capable leader who can manage the drafting team, coordinate workloads and maintain a consistently high standard of technical delivery.

You will remain involved in the design and documentation process while leading, mentoring and supporting a positive-sized team of civil designers and drafters.

The position will include

- Managing the day-to-day operation of the civil drafting team
- Allocating workloads and monitoring project deadlines
- Reviewing drawings, designs and technical documentation
- Maintaining drafting standards and quality procedures
- Coordinating closely with civil engineers and project managers
- Mentoring and developing junior and intermediate team members
- Supporting the delivery of major urban development projects throughout the Canberra region
- Assisting with resource planning and future team growth

To be considered, you will ideally offer





- Strong civil drafting and design experience within an engineering consultancy
- Advanced 12D capability, which is essential
- Previous experience leading or supervising a drafting and design team
- A solid understanding of urban development projects
- Experience across roads, earthworks, drainage, utilities and subdivisions
- Civil 3D experience would be helpful but is not mandatory
- Exposure to MUSIC and DRAINS would be an additional advantage
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to coordinate competing priorities and work effectively with engineers, clients and other disciplines

This role would suit an established Drafting Team Leader or a highly experienced Senior Civil Designer ready to take the next step into formal team leadership.
