The Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Group Facilitator delivers high quality, evidence based and trauma informed therapeutic day rehabilitation to individuals impacted by alcohol & other drugs. The Alcohol & Other Drug Group Facilitators are responsible for the coordination, delivery and continuous improvement of the Making A Change (MAC) therapeutic day rehabilitation program across the Grampians and Wimmera region.
This program is targeted at addressing psychosocial causes of alcohol & other drug use for the purpose of sustainable recovery.
This position forms part of the Counselling & AOD team and collaborates with related programs, as requires.
Skills and experience
Qualifications
- Minimum Cert IV in Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) or related community services discipline.
- Relevant qualification in Community Services, Social Work, Counselling or related field.
Desirable
- Experience facilitating structured Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) group programs.
- Strong understanding of Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) treatment, harm reduction and behaviour change models.
- Experience working with diverse communities, including involuntary clients.
- Knowledge of trauma informed practice and cultural safety.
- High level group facilitation skills including managing complex dynamics.
- Strong assessment and clinical judgement.
