We are seeking an Environmental Officer to join the Native Vegetation Regulation team within the Approvals portfolio. In this role, you will assess native vegetation clearing permit applications and clearing referrals under Part V of the Environmental Protection Act 1986, including complex and contentious matters. You will provide technical and scientific advice, undertake site inspections where required, and contribute to timely, practical and defensible regulatory decisions.

Working in a dynamic regulatory environment, you will engage with a range of stakeholders, including industry, government agencies and the community, to resolve issues and support positive environmental outcomes. The role also contributes to business improvement initiatives, policy reform, compliance support activities and the continuous enhancement of native vegetation regulation processes.

The successful applicant will hold a degree in Science or an approved equivalent and demonstrate strong analytical, communication and organisational skills. You will be able to interpret legislation and policy, assess complex information, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within required timeframes, while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
