About Allegra School
Allegra School Coffs Harbour is an independent, non-denominational Special Assistance School providing Stage 5 education for students in Years 9 and 10. We are deliberately small. With approximately 84 students and classes capped at 14, we are able to know young people well, respond when something is not working and shape learning around the individual.
Many of our students come to Allegra after mainstream schooling has become difficult or no longer meets their needs. Our role is not to provide an easier version of school — it is to provide a better-fitting one, with high expectations, individualised support, strong relationships and opportunities for young people to rebuild confidence, agency and connection with learning.
In 2026, Allegra School was ranked #1 nationally in the Best Workplaces micro category. We are deliberately human, collaborative and adaptable, while maintaining clear expectations around accountability, reliability and follow-through.
About the role
For many families, the Marketing & Enrolments Officer will be one of their first experiences of Allegra. That makes this role important.
Families contacting us may have spent months or years trying to find an educational environment that works for their young person. An enquiry is rarely just an enquiry. Behind it may be hope, uncertainty, anxiety, frustration or a long history of difficult experiences with education.
Your role is to make that first experience clear, organised, welcoming and respectful.
At the same time, you will help tell Allegra’s story - keeping public information current, celebrating student and staff achievement, coordinating approved marketing and communication, supporting events and ensuring what we say externally genuinely reflects what happens inside the School.
What you’ll be doing
The role combines enrolments, marketing, communication, digital content, data and family engagement.
You will
- manage prospective-family enquiries across phone, email, website and other channels;
- coordinate the administrative enrolment journey from initial enquiry through application, interview, approved enrolment and commencement;
- maintain accurate enquiry, application and enrolment records;
- coordinate school visits, enrolment interviews and information sessions;
- maintain enrolment pipelines and follow up missing information and outstanding actions;
- coordinate approved marketing campaigns and public-facing communication;
- maintain website content and approved public information;
- develop newsletters, promotional materials, advertisements, presentations and digital content;
- draft and schedule approved social-media content;
- support media, photography and visual-content coordination;
- maintain accurate photography, publication and media-consent records;
- support family and community events, including invitations, RSVPs, guest communication and promotional materials;
- design and maintain feedback systems for families, enrolments, events and community engagement;
- track enrolment and marketing data and prepare useful reporting;
- maintain online forms and digital enrolment workflows; and
- contribute reasonable cross-coverage across the administration team when required.
This role may suit you if you:
- enjoy working somewhere small enough that your contribution is genuinely visible;
- communicate warmly and professionally with teenagers, families, colleagues and community members;
- can combine creativity with exceptional attention to detail;
- enjoy marketing and storytelling but also value accurate records and reliable systems;
- can manage multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders without needing routine work to be chased;
- notice what needs doing and take appropriate ownership;
- can move comfortably between a parent enquiry, a database, a website update, an event guest list and a social-media post;
- understand that privacy, dignity and consent are non-negotiable;
- can work collaboratively while respecting role boundaries;
- enjoy improving inefficient processes rather than simply working around them; and
- want your work to connect to something meaningful.
Marketing and communication
You will help communicate Allegra’s purpose, programs, achievements and enrolment information accurately and respectfully. This includes website content, social media, newsletters, promotional materials, event communication, photography and visual assets.
Because we work with young people and families who may have complex personal histories, strong judgement around privacy, consent, dignity and child safety is essential. Student stories or images must never become marketing content simply because they are compelling.
Enrolments and family experience
You will coordinate the administrative family journey from first enquiry through to approved commencement. You do not independently determine whether a student is eligible for enrolment, approve or decline applications, assess student risk or promise educational adjustments or services. Those substantive decisions remain with the authorised school leader.
Your job is to make the process accurate, organised, accessible and respectful and to ensure families understand what happens next.
What good performance looks like
You are dependable. Your work is accurate and well organised.
Families receive warm, accessible communication and know what is happening next. Enrolment records are current and complete. Marketing content is engaging but accurate. Deadlines are visible and followed through. Consent and privacy requirements are respected.
You collaborate without offloading responsibility and know the difference between something you can handle confidently and something that needs to be escalated.
Experience and capabilities
We are interested in applicants with experience in one or more of the following:
- marketing or communications;
- enrolment or admissions administration;
- customer or family service;
- school administration;
- digital content or social media;
- events and community engagement; or
- a related field.
Strong written communication is important, as is confidence with digital tools, websites, newsletters, social media, databases and visual-content platforms. You will also need excellent organisation, attention to detail and follow-through, together with the ability to manage sensitive information respectfully and confidentially.
Employment package
The position is classified as a Clerical and Administration Services Employee – Level 3 under the Independent Schools NSW (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025. The appointment will commence on 27 January 2027 and will initially be offered for 12 months, with the opportunity for extension subject to the ongoing needs of the School and satisfactory performance.
The exact employment fraction, roster and any non-term-time requirements will be specified in the advertisement and letter of appointment.
Child safety
Allegra School is committed to providing a child-safe environment and maintaining high standards of professional conduct and safeguarding. The successful applicant must hold a current Working With Children Check and comply with all School child-protection, privacy, confidentiality, media-consent and reporting requirements.
