Role Description This full-time on-site Mechanical Fitter role is based in the Greater Newcastle Area.

The Mechanical

Fitter will assemble, fit, and install components on specialized portable rail maintenance equipment according to technical drawings and specifications. Day-to-day tasks include performing mechanical fitting and alignment, operating machinery and tools for machining and fabrication, and conducting routine inspections to ensure equipment quality and performance. The role involves carrying out maintenance and repairs on workshop machinery, supporting preventive maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting mechanical issues.





The Mechanical

Fitter will collaborate with engineers and production staff, follow safety procedures, and maintain accurate records of work performed.

Qualifications

- Candidates should possess skills in Fitting and working with Machinery in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Candidates should possess skills in Machining, including the use of lathes, mills, and related workshop equipment.
- Candidates should possess skills in Maintenance and Preventive Maintenance of mechanical systems and tooling.
- Relevant trade qualification (e.g., Mechanical Fitter or equivalent apprenticeship) or comparable experience in mechanical fitting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Strong focus on workplace safety, quality standards, and attention to detail.
- Experience in rail, heavy industry, or equipment manufacturing is beneficial but not mandatory.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
