Mechanical technician required to work within space communications, full time position.

Your recent company

You'll be working with a leading organisation supporting advanced space communications and research infrastructure, operating highly specialised antenna systems in a large, secure environment. The team is seeking a Mechanical Technician to carry out maintenance and installation works across critical antenna and mechanical systems.

Your new role In this role, you'll work within the Antenna mechanical systems team to maintain and support key systems across the site. Your responsibilities will include:

- Carrying out maintenance, repairs and modifications to mechanical and structural systems
- Servicing hydraulic systems, pumps, bearings and associated components
- Performing fault-finding, diagnostics and reactive maintenance
- Supporting machining, fabrication and installation activities
- Interpreting technical drawings and schematics
- Assisting with broader site infrastructure maintenance

What you'll need to succeed

- Trade qualification in a mechanical field (Fitter & Machinist, Diesel Mechanic, Boilermaker or similar)
- Hands-on experience maintaining, servicing and repairing industrial machinery and equipment




- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and rectify mechanical faults
- Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
- A proactive, safety-focused approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Good level of physical fitness and willingness to work at heights when required
- Ability to pass a National Police Check
- Current Working at Heights, Confined Space, EWP or Forklift licences highly regarded
- Welding, fabrication and metalwork experience advantageous
- Experience operating mobile plant or heavy equipment highly regarded
