They build trust quickly, stay calm when a child is anxious or resistant, and communicate confidently with parents without making them feel judged. They make dental care feel safe without turning every appointment into a performance.

Big Mouth and the Shiny Brights is a boutique, specialist-led paediatric practice in North Adelaide, built around making children and families feel genuinely known. We combine high clinical standards with a warm, distinctive environment—and we are growing without losing the personality and personal care that built our reputation.

We are creating a new Oral Health Therapist role for someone who wants to become a trusted continuing-care clinician for our families. You will work directly with specialist paediatric dentist Dr Marko Milosevic and progressively take ownership of an existing patient cohort.

THE ROLE

Your clinical focus will be paediatric continuing care: routine examinations, radiographs and risk assessment, preventive care, fissure sealants, early non-operative disease management, mouthguards, and helping anxious or resistant children become comfortable with dental care.

Working chairside with Dr Marko during specialist treatment is also part of the role—and a major part of its professional-development value. Together with regular case discussion and direct teaching, it provides unusually immersive, hands-on exposure to specialist assessment, treatment planning, clinical decision-making and treatment approaches.



Your learning can extend far beyond the procedures you personally perform here.

This is a busy, deliberately focused position for someone who genuinely enjoys preventive care, child behaviour and building long-term relationships with families.

The role will commence at two days per week, with the opportunity to add further days as the service grows. Wednesday and Thursday are preferred, but not an absolute requirement. If you are an outstanding fit and require different weekdays, we still want to hear from you.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Paediatric experience is welcome, but it is not the deciding factor. We are open to an experienced OHT, an early-career clinician or an excellent recent graduate.

Clinical systems can be taught; genuine warmth, presence and emotional intelligence are much harder to teach.

You will suit our practice if you are:

Naturally warm, reassuring and engaging with children and parents

Calm and confident with anxious or resistant children

Curious, coachable and comfortable asking questions

Open about uncertainty while developing sound independent judgement

Effective, organised and consistent with clinical documentation
