Employment Status: Permanent/Ongoing 1.0FTE Teaching Position, plus Position of Responsibility Band 2 Level 2 (2 year tenure)

The Opportunity

The Middle School Leader of Teaching and Learning – Maths is responsible for leading teaching and learning within the Mathematics faculty, under the direction of the Middle School Head of Teaching and Learning. As such, the Middle School Leader of Teaching and Learning – Maths:

- Provides quality assurance that Mathematics classes and learning programs comply with ACARA requirements and reflect the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
- Leads collaboration across Mathematics subject teams to support shared curriculum planning, assessment and moderation, and greater consistency in teaching quality.
- Ensures teaching and learning programs, curriculum resources, assessment information, feedback and student achievement data are current and maintained within the College Learning Management System.
- Supervises curriculum, assessment and reporting across the faculty to ensure College procedures, expectations and timelines are consistently met.
- Contributes to Middle School improvement priorities and leads the implementation and evaluation of specific improvement actions within the Mathematics faculty.Leads and supports a team of professional educators by providing day-to-day advice, coaching, feedback and opportunities for professional growth.

Key responsibilities include:

- Champion the Catholic identity and mission of the College by modelling Catholic values, supporting the spiritual life of the community, participating in Catholic formation, and strengthening connections with families, the local church and the wider College community.
- Lead excellence in Mathematics teaching and learning by fostering high expectations, innovation, qualified collaboration and collective responsibility for student achievement.
- Oversee Mathematics curriculum,



assessment and reporting by leading curriculum planning and review, undertaking quality assurance of course and unit documentation, coordinating assessment moderation, and ensuring compliance with ACARA and College requirements.
- Use evidence and learning data to drive improvement by monitoring student achievement, progress and engagement, identifying emerging patterns, and supporting staff to use data to inform differentiation, intervention, extension and assessment practices.
- Build the capability of Mathematics faculty staff through mentoring, coaching, constructive feedback, recognition of effective practice and professional learning aligned with College and Middle School priorities.
- Lead effective faculty administration by coordinating faculty meetings, maintaining curriculum and assessment resources, contributing to subject selection and curriculum handbook processes, and preparing and monitoring the faculty budget.
- Support positive student outcomes by ensuring significant learning concerns are documented, communicated and addressed, and by contributing to coordinated academic, wellbeing and pastoral responses for students requiring additional support.
- Strengthen partnerships with students, families and colleagues by responding appropriately to concerns about curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting, supporting challenging conversations, and escalating matters in accordance with College procedures.




- Contribute actively to Middle School priorities and the broader life of the College through collaboration with leaders and staff, participation in professional learning and College events, and involvement in curriculum, assessment and improvement initiatives.

The successful candidate will be an experienced educator with strong knowledge of contemporary teaching practice, curriculum planning, assessment, reporting and the use of learning data to inform improvement. They will be skilled in leading and supporting faculty staff, building a culture of high expectations, professional collaboration and collective responsibility. Through mentoring, coaching and constructive feedback, they will help teachers strengthen their practice and deliver consistent, high-quality learning experiences for students.

With excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, they will work effectively with students, staff, families and College leaders. They will demonstrate initiative, sound judgement and the ability to manage faculty priorities, address learning concerns and contribute positively to broader Middle School initiatives.
