Aikman Engineering is a long-established Geelong engineering business providing engineering, machining and fabrication solutions to a wide range of industries.

Our capabilities include structural steel fabrication and installation, general metal fabrication, CNC milling and turning, mechanical engineering and design, estimating, 3D scanning and modelling, reverse engineering, custom component manufacturing, repairs, modifications, automotive and driveline components, and 9-inch differential conversions.

We work on a wide range of projects, from one-off custom components and machining jobs through to structural fabrication and larger engineering projects.

About the Opportunities

Depending on the position, responsibilities may include:

● Mechanical design and engineering support

● Preparing estimates, quotations and material take-offs

● Producing 2D and 3D fabrication drawings

● Reviewing engineering drawings and specifications

● CNC milling and turning

● CNC machine setup and programming

● Manual machining and fitting

● Structural steel and general fabrication

● MIG and TIG welding

● Manufacturing custom and one-off components

● Mechanical fitting and assembly

● 3D scanning and reverse engineering

● Workshop and site-based installation works

● Inspection and quality checks

● Measuring components using verniers, micrometers and other precision tools

● Material ordering and job planning

● Working closely with engineers, machinists and fabricators

● Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop

What We Are Looking For





We are interested in hearing from candidates with experience or qualifications in:

● Mechanical engineering

● Engineering design and estimating

● CNC machining

● Milling and turning

● Fitting and turning

● Metal fabrication

● Structural steel fabrication

● Welding

● General manufacturing and engineering

Depending on the role, suitable applicants may have:

● Mechanical Engineering qualification

● Fitter & Turner or Machinist trade qualification

● Fabrication or Boilermaker trade qualification

● Relevant apprenticeship experience

● Experience reading engineering and fabrication drawings

● CAD and 3D modelling experience

● CNC programming experience

● Strong measuring and problem-solving skills

● Good attention to detail

● Solid commitment to quality and safety

● Ability to work independently and as part of a team

● Positive attitude and willingness to learn For the apprentice position, previous workshop experience is not essential. We are looking for someone reliable, motivated and genuinely interested in building a career in machining and engineering.
