About The Ration Shed Museum: The Ration Shed Museum has been part of the Cherbourg Community since 2006 and is committed to preserving and sharing First Nations local history.

Since the completion of their Strategic Business Plan in 2024, the focus has been on supporting growth and stability through the Consolidating Our Future project and expanding markets for First Nations artists and craftworkers.

Key Requirements:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

- Proven leadership and management experience.
- Project management skills.
- Small business and/or community enterprise financial management experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication skills with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of First Nations peoples history in Qld and the resulting impacts.
- High cultural sensitivity when interacting with staff, visitors, artists and community members
- Excellent written communication, organisational, negotiation and reporting skills.
- High level computer and IT skills.




- Experience in liaising with media, government agencies, philanthropic and funding bodies.
- Availability to work outside of normal business hours.
- A current Qld Working with Children Blue Card and National Police Check OR be eligible to quickly acquire.
- Minimum "C" class driver licence.

Although not essential requirements, preference will be shown to applicants also able to offer any of the following:
- Qualifications or certificates in Business or other fields relevant to the museum and its operations.
- Experience in writing and applying for grants.
- Experience in processing acquittals
- Identification as an Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander person.
- MYOB experience.
- Shopify experience.

Key Duties: The following represents an overview of the scope of the duties to be performed:

- Oversee the museum's operations and programmes.
- Manage operational budgets and finances including payroll, debtors and creditors.
- Manage sales, orders, quotes, inventory control, financial data for Bookkeeper, eftpos & cash sales.
- Support HR functions including onboarding and staff training.
- Initiate and develop new projects and displays for the precinct.
- Prepare and provide monthly reports to the Museum Management committee.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders such as local community services, government agencies and educational institutions.
- Manage, maintain and monitor the precinct security system.
- Ensure compliance with opening and closing procedures.
- Comply with all safety requirements for the precinct
